Science has always been my favorite subject. One of the things that drew my mind to it was astronomy. I have many things that are interesting about astronomy that I would like to learn more about. Some of the things I want to learn more about are constellations, eclipses, life on Mars, and the way the stars move when the night goes on. Here are some details on why I want to learn more about the constellations.
I already know some things about certain constellations and their names but I want to know more. Some constellations have famous stars in them, like Beetle Juice in Orion. I want to know more about Beetle Juice, the largest known star. I also want to discover some thing new about the constellations. I like studying constellations, but seeing the sunlight being blocked away might be fun too.
Eclipses can be sort of scary, but I want to study them and find out how many times an average person in Massachusetts will see an eclipse in a 90 year period from the year 2002 to the year 2092, trying to find the moon’s average orbit to help me. My biggest question about eclipses is, do the have them more often other planets, planets with a lot of moons, or planets with moons that have a shorter orbit. Eclipses are mysterious to me, but Martians are more mysterious.
Little kids are always talking about Martians and aliens even thought they know that aliens are fake, there might be some out there.
Scientists have discovered a thick layer of ice under the surface of Mars. If there’s ice, there has to be water. Someday I want to go there and find out if it’s true. It’s really strange to think about scientists trying to go live on Mars and terraform it. The way they are going to try and terraform it by trying to plant plants all over Mars. If they plant plants, then the plants can give out oxygen so life can live on Mars without a spacesuit. This may take thousands of years, but I think it’s worth it. I like thinking about having another planet with life on it, but I also like to think about why the sky looks like it’s going in circles.
You could go outside somewhat early in the night, and remember a certain star. Then go out later at night and you find that the star has moved. There is only one star that will not move if you choose that one. That star is the North Star. At night, if you continuously take pictures of the sky from sundown until dawn and make a flipbook, it will look as if the whole sky revolves around the North Star. I haven’t figured out why but I really want to find out. I’m dying to find out more about the way the stars seem to move, but I think all these things are equally as interesting
Constellations, eclipses, life on Mars, and the way stars move are all things that I want to learn about. In my opinion, Astronomy is a very important part of science. It will also probably take a big part in the future of mankind when the Earth starts to break apart, and we need to find a new planet to live on. I really believe that I will like science as my favorite subject for along time
